Sawadeekhaa MTC week 1 (10/23/13)

October 23rd

Hey everyone!

Thanks to everyone that wrote! It's so great to hear from you! I receive emails only on Wednesdays, but I can receive handwritten letters pretty much whenever, except sundays, or you can email me through Dearelder.com.

Sister Brynne Woodbury Unit: 52   Mission Code: THAI-BAN  Estimated Departure Date:  DEC18

Now I know that most of you have asked who my companion is, and it's *drum roll* . . .  Sister Embley! For those who don't know, every missionary is assigned to a companion that you basically have to be with 24/7 unless you're transferred to a different area in the mission field, or when you go on missionary splits. She's like a mother that is so loving towards her children (or in this case towards missionaries in our district). We get along well.

Now my district is made up of six people, including me. Now that's TINY! There's only five sisters and one elder. My district is cool, and it's fun to see each others personality within such a small group.

Anyways the MTC is pretty nice but overwhelming in the first week. The language is hard, but it'll eventually come! Man, some days it seems impossible, but I guess this is where faith applies, right? I've realized that I need to rely more on others, especially my Savior. I just have this mentality to do everything by myself, and wanting to prove to others of what I'm capable of. But that shouldn't be the point of why I'm serving a mission. My purpose is to bring others to Christ. I've also realized that I have SOOOOOO much to learn. I really need to rely on the Holy Ghost to help me teach lessons with the investigators. I wish I could just shake them and tell them why they need the gospel, but I don't know how. YET! I'm also re-reading the Book of Mormon, and it's amazing! I look forward to reading it, and am amazed by Nephi and his unwavering, inspiring faith. I need some more of that in my life.

I love choir and the devotionals here! They're awesome and provide much stress-relief to the busy schedule! I'm so tired!!!! Also the food here... it's literally like the Cannon food center at BYU provo. GROSS!!!!

What's been going on in your busy lives? Anything crazy happen? How's work Shane, Lauren and Anita? Any more spit balls? ;) haha

I seriously do love hearing from each and everyone of you, and wish I could tell you everything, but time's limited! I love all of you, and seriously do look forward to your letters! (hint, hint!)

Love,
Sister Woodbury
